Nestled amongst the mountains of Lantau Island, Hong Kong Disneyland certainly embodies the unique magic of Disney parks. While hosting fan-favourite rides such as Space Mountain and the Jungle Cruise, the park also excels in one of Disney’s most renowned traditions – parade entertainment.

Flights of Fantasy (3.30pm)
Flights of Fantasy boasts all the colour and charm famous of Disney’s daytime parades. The path runs from the northern border of Tomorrowland through to Main Street, though if you camp here you may have to wait – the parade stops intermittently to let the (rather heat-exhausted) ground performers dance with children. Though many find Main Street a more authentic viewing location, it was around 3.50 before any of the floats passed us in front of Centennial Hall, and in the heat of Hong Kong, it dampened the experience a little. Even so, Flights of Fantasy is delightful, and exhibits floats that embody the spirit of many popular Disney films. A must see, especially for little ones – though remarkably, Queen Elsa doesn’t make an appearance.

Paint the Night – Disney’s Night-time Spectacular (7.30pm)
Being well acquainted with the phenomenal Disney parks in Tokyo, L.A and Orlando, I’m confident and a little surprised to uphold Paint the Night as the best night parade of them all. The brightly lit floats are clear and mesmerising, and the attention to detail in each one is astounding. An issue people often have with Disney’s night parades is that they can seem repetitive and technical, but each float within Hong Kong Disneyland’s Paint the Night was a wholly unique showpiece. If you love princesses and Pixar, Paint the Night is a visual masterpiece not to be missed.

Enjoy the adventure.
